California: Joshua Tree
We left San Diego around 5am Monday morning April 10th in hopes of getting a spot at Black Rock Canyon Campground. The road we took to get there was incredible. We had to stop and take some pictures of the beautiful sunrise! When we arrived at the campground, the sign said that it was full but that didn't stop us! They ended up having two spots left so we lucked out.
Once we got settled, we prepared for a hike. Though it was a pretty moderate, we took pics and laughed our way through it.
Don't they look like Dr. Seuss trees??
On our way down we decided to jog the last bit and after like 5 steps we heard the rattle of a baby snake! We immediately stopped until it left. So scary! After our hike we relaxed, napped, and then prepared for dinner. We had bough some chicken and veggies before we left San Diego to make a stir fry. It was really good!
That night we played cards and made a fire without any actual firewood which was pretty awesome. We also walked around the campground taking pictures of trees and flowers and later on the epic full moon!
The next morning we made scrambled eggs and headed out of the campground around 8am. Such an incredibly beautiful and unique place!
