This was all we really saw of Rhode Island. We had no interest in stopping and looking around because there was nothing that stood out to us that seemed important enough to check out. No offense to anyone that lives there!

We drove straight through to Hartford Connecticut and stopped to eat downtown at a greek restaurant for Gyros. Super delicious!

After dinner, we headed to another 24hr Walmart where we relaxed outside the truck for a bit making our plan of attack for New York in the morning. A couple of nice dudes stopped by our truck to chat with us about trucks and what living in Connecticut is like. They told us that it was best not to stay at that Walmart because it really wasn't safe and we should probably never come back to the state because it's awful. Oh man!

So many people we've talked to about the states that they live in have felt the same way. I think it's just because they may have always lived where they are from and are super tired of it. Alas, we listened to our guts and their advice and we headed out 30 more miles south to a 24hr truck stop and crashed there for the night.

White Plains, NY

Our plan of attack to see NYC was to wake up at 8am and get to the White Plains Train Station at 9:30am so we could take a 30 min ride into Manhattan to explore the city. Well we woke up at 9:00am (so tired we slept in). We got to the station around 10am and there was absolutely no parking. Everything we found was permit only, 2 hour parking, or full. We drove around the area until 10:45 at least and there was nothing. I had already bought the train tickets the night before so I was a bit let down we couldn't make it there. Honestly though, we both had a bad feeling about leaving our truck in a parking lot a train ride away for an entire day when our whole life is strapped on top and locked inside.

Though there was no way in heck that we were going to leave NY without getting pizza and bagels! I looked for the best place nearby which turned out to be Nesto's Pizza and Deli.

This place had everything from pizza, meats, cheese, bagels, sandwiches, and a whole 711 style range of beverages to choose from. We opted for two slices of pizza and two bagels toasted with cream cheese.

Oh. My. Gosh. The pizza was excellent. The dough was flavorful and the toppings were fresh and delicious.

Let me tell you. I'm stillthinking about this bagel. Best I've ever had--easily. Solid and buttery on the outside soft and chewy on the inside. Oh and it was GINORMOUS.

I had already visited New York City previously and Chris had no desire to see it so we really weren't missing out. We will go back together another time. We then made the decision to continue our journey south.

Back on the road, we got a small taste of NYC traffic and psycho drives that continued driving through New Jersey. Oh and more tolls. Lots more tolls.

How Chris feels about driving in the city ^

So glad we at least got some good food and got to see the city from afar. Next stop, Philadelphia PA!
