Virginia: Washington D.C.

We woke up late after sleeping in and headed to Starbucks before going to see the museums and monuments. We were told to park by national hall because there would be more parking there than around the monuments. Wrong. We can't fit in most parking garages because the truck is so tall. We need at least 6'8 clearance. We drove around for probably an hour before finding 2 hour parking on the street. All of the garages we found were full and if they weren't full they weren't tall enough. Where we parked it allowed you to pay the meter from an app that you download so we did that. Headed to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum first.

Then the Natural History museum.

The American History museum was closed. Lame! We then walked to the Washington monument and set out to the White House.

While looking for the capital building we got a little lost and also got notified on our phone that our parking was going to expire because there's no parking after 4pm on that street. Guess we didn't read the fine print! We were miles away and only had our legs to get us back. By the time we made it back our time had run out and it was almost 4:30. We for sure thought we were getting a parking ticket.

We walked around the corner to find our car and the parking ticket man was still there after writing us a ticket. We were like "Nooo are we too late?!! We got lost. We've been paying for it all day from the app!" He looked at Chris. Then he looked at me. Then back at Chris and he said "y'all look like some nice people." Then he showed us his parking ticket maker screen and showed us that he had just voided our ticket. We were floored at his kindness. He said, "we aren't all like how they describe us on parking wars" lol then he said "Do you know how much the ticket would have been? $100." We got so lucky!

After that we tried to go park by the Lincoln memorial and Arlington cemetery but there was no way. We drove in circles. So we kept going. Stopped at Chick Filet on the way out of DC then to a Starbucks where we had the worst service of our lives that i wrote a Yelp review about it. We've come to the conclusion that people in D.C. are rude and have no idea how to drive.

3 hours later we arrived at the nicest 24 hour Walmart we'd been to in Yorktown VA. Next post on Yorktown and North Carolina!
