Missouri: St. Louis
We left Chicago at 7am the next morning, headed to get our ritualistic Starbucks and cream cheese for our bagels (we got from Walmart earlier in the week) and left for St. Louis. We stopped for lunch and more Starbucks when we were about halfway there. Thank goodness for our gift cards! Chris got McDonald's and I got Chick-filet. It was my first time trying it and oh-em-gee was it good! Everyone that knows me must know that I'm slowly dying inside eating all this fast food mentally and physically but this place is better than regular fast food joints---so fresh!
Not even 30 mins later we spotted the mythical White Castle (they don't have these where we're from!) We had to stop. We both had always wondered what they were like. I was honestly not impressed. It tasted like a thin sloppy joe with onions. Chris didn't mind it though! We're glad we tried them.
We ended up driving through a piece of Arkansas and quickly noticed how affordable gas was: $1.98. This was the cheapest we had seen yet! I'm sure it will become the norm the closer we get to the south.
We got to St. Louis in the afternoon and quickly parked to walk out to the arch.
We didn't stay longer than enough time to take a few photos because we were anxious to make it to Memphis. Read on about our time in Tennessee in our next post!
