South Carolina: Myrtle Beach
We left Concord, NC around 12 noon on a Monday to head to Myrtle Beach South Carolina. We drove through so many tiny towns. The first one was Albemarle, North Carolina, "Home of Kelly Pickler." The next town had the house that "The Color Purple" was filmed in.
Then we drove through Cheraw, "Home of Jazz Artist, Dizzy Gilsepee."
We got to Myrtle Beach around 5pm and walked straight to the gift shop to get our sticker.
The shop owner was from Colorado and told us that it was his favorite place he has lived in the US. He also said that the tax in myrtle beach if we were planning to eat is 11%! So we did not eat during our visit :)
We walked on the beach and got in the water. So much warmer than the pacific!
We watched a guy catch a fish off the warf in the distance.
JELLYFISH!!!!
So many shells on the beach....
We walked up to the warf and they charge $1 to walk the rest of the way through the gift shop on the warf. Crazy.
We kept walking around the town and went in a well known arcade to check it out.
Honestly...nothing beats Santa Cruz!!! Still our favorite Boardwalk :)
After that we decided to head out to Charleston. We stopped at Starbucks near the marsh walk and they recommended we stop for food there. So we picked "The claw house" it was delicious!
I got salmon and broccolini (finally something healthy) I'm trying to cut dairy out because I think it's been bothering my stomach. Chris got jumbo shrimp and MAC and cheese. Also delicious.
He ordered a Westbrook rye pale ale. Scale of 1-10 it was a 7 out of all the beers he's tried across the US. The "Worthy Kitchen" in Vermont was the best IPA he's had so far.
We left the restaurant around 9pm to head out to a 24hr Walmart in Charleston about 2 hours away :)
